Crazy Beautiful looks to 'rebound' Friday at Churchill
Crazy Beautiful, who finished sixth last out in the Alabama (G1), will look to bounce back in the Seneca Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs on Friday.
"It's a good rebound race," McPeek told Horse Racing Nation Tuesday morning. "She didn't run well in the Alabama. We wanted to back down, give her a little time between starts and then get her back in a spot where we can get her confidence back and a good spot to win. I think she's capable of doing that."
The field for the 1 1/16-mile race also includes stablemate Oliviaofthedesert, whose sole win in six starts this year came in the black-type Panthers Stakes at Prairie Meadows in June.
Crazy Beautiful, a 3-year-old daughter of Liam's Map, started the year with a second-place finish in the Davona Dale (G2) and then won the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2). after finishing 10th in the Kentucky Oaks, she won the Summertime Oaks (G2) and the Delaware Oaks (G2) before the Alabama, which was won by Malathaat.
She breezed 5 furlongs Friday at Churchill Downs in 1:00.4, the fourth fastest of 39 works at that distance.
Friday's race will be the last for her under the ownership of Phoenix Thoroughbreds. She will be offered at Fasig-Tipton's "Night of the Stars" sale in November.
