Cozi Rosie Well Drawn in Santa Barbara

Buena Vista (G2) winner Cozi Rosie drew the rail and has been made the 8-5 morning line favorite in Saturday's Grade 2 Santa Barbara Handicap at Santa Anita Park. The ten furlong grass race has also attracted Malibu Pier.

Cozi Rosie won a couple of synthetic routes at Santa Anita last year but she really came into her own when switched to the grass.

The John Sadler trainee found trouble in her first turf start in the Providencia (G2) last April. She followed that up with a win in the Senorita (G3) and a near miss in the Honeymoon (G2). The daughter of Pleasantly Perfect won the aforementioned Santa Barbara on Feb 21 and could easily mow these down under Mike Smith.

Malibu Pier beat today's rival Turning Top by a length in the grassy Santa Ana (G2) on March 19. The former looms a pace factor at the very least but it should be noted that Rafael Bejarano abandons in favor of Turning Top. The latter can run all day and is a graded winner at this distance.

The six horse Santa Barbara field also includes pace player Calle Vista, Andina, and Restless Soul.
