Comparing the odds: Preakness prices in Nevada, Pimlico
Baltimore
Where the pari-mutuel win pool at Pimlico offers little to no value even for the longest of long shots in Saturday’s running of Preakness 2023, there are some attractive prices in the fixed-odds market in Nevada.
Prices in Las Vegas on Saturday morning ranged from 3-5, actually minus 135, for Kentucky Derby winner Mage to 80-1 for El Camino Real Derby winner Chase the Chaos.
In contrast, the live pool at Pimlico went from the favorite Mage at 9-5 and Maryland-bred frontrunner Coffeewithchris at 8-1.
The odds at Caesars Sportsbook, Circa Sports and the Westgate SuperBook differ from the pari-mutuels in that prices are locked in at the time of every bet. At Pimlico and for most bettors across North America, the odds will not be known until the Preakness starts Saturday at 7:01 p.m. EDT. The Nevada markets will remain open until just before post time.
Following were the odds at the three sportsbooks plus those in the Pimlico pari-mutuels Saturday at 10 a.m. EDT with the revised morning line also shown:
