A few weeks ago, when Larry Rivelli told Horse Racing Nation that Two Phil's was "blossoming into a Secretariat," the great minds of Twitter reacted, some with amusement, some with dismay.

Rivelli made the remark in the wake of the Kentucky Derby runner-up's retirement because of an injury during his impressive Ohio Derby (G3) win. He noted that the Hard Spun colt had received Beyer Speed Figures of 105 for two of his races.

Below you'll find a the best speed figures for the 28 horses who ran in a Triple Crown race this year. For those who ran in more than one of the classics, only the best figure, as ranked by Brisnet Speed Ratings, is included.

The highest Brisnet went to Arcangelo for his win in the Belmont Stakes. In fact, the top six Brisnet ratings went to Belmont Stakes runners. Mage tied the lowest of those six, National Treasure, with a 103.

The highest Beyer Speed Figure of the lot, 105, went to Mage and Two Phil's for their 1-2 effort in the Derby, according to Daily Racing Form.

Arcangelo also received the highest HRN Speed Figure, 107.

TimeformUS Speed Figures show a departure, with the highest, 124, going to Mage, followed by Two Phil's at 123.
