Colonial Downs: Hot Combo

Sunday was a successful day for owner David Ross, trainer Michael Pino, and jockey Horacio Karamanos as the team took home three wins on the Colonial Downs card.

Ross’ Native Playboy opened the card as the favorite, drawing away to a 1 ¼ length win after taking command at the eighth pole under Karamanos. Native Playboy, a Virginia-bred by Distorted Humor out of a Not For Love mare, was last seen at Colonial in the Punch Line Stakes where he ran third.

In the seventh race, Golden Account led throughout the five and a half furlongs to hold the win by 1 ¼ lengths. It was the second win in four starts for the three year old Menifee colt

Ross, Pino, and Karamanos also brought home a winner, Lady in the Money, in the eighth race but were disqualified to fourth due to interference involving Rosemary Homeister, Jr’s mount Hard Rockin’. Both Homeister and Hard Rockin’ appeared to be okay after clipping heels and falling around the far turn.

Michael Pino also had a winner in the ninth race, with Nick Sanna Stables’ Waterford Bay drawing away under Eric Camacho to win by a length.
