Coast-to-coast Pick 5 payouts greatly exceed expectations
I wrote last year about how well the coast-to-coast Pick 5 paid, and once again it continues to consistently outperform expectations week after week.
The $1 Pick 5 features races from Gulfstream and Santa Anita every Saturday and Sunday and a low 15 percent takeout. The $1 base makes it tougher to get coverage on your tickets, which can lead to higher payoffs.
Below are the pools and payoffs for the first nine coast-to-coast wagers of 2024.
Of the eight times the wager has been hit, amazingly four of those times the $1 payoff has been about 10 times the parlay, or more.
Only twice has the payout been less than two times the parlay, and overall the payouts have averaged 7.7 times the parlay, which is tremendous value.
Saturday's edition of the coast-to-coast will feature two races from Gulfstream Park and three from Santa Anita.
