Churchill Downs has $214,090 carryover for closing-day Pick 6

Bettors have a lucrative opportunity to chase a significant carryover on Sunday’s closing day program at Churchill Downs with mandatory payouts in all wagers led by a $214,090 carryover in the 20-cent Derby City 6.

Sunday’s 10-race card, the last of 14 programs during the September meet, gets under way at 12:45 p.m. EDT with the Derby City 6 beginning in race 5 at 2:45 p.m.

Sunday’s Derby City 6 sequence spans races 5-10. The fifth is a $12,500 claiming race for nine 3-year-olds and up going 1 1/16 miles. Race 6 at 3:18 p.m. is for 10 maiden 3-year-olds and up racing seven furlongs for $30,000. The seventh race at 3:50 p.m. is for 12 juvenile fillies going six furlongs with a purse of $150,000 in play. Six entries were taken for race 8 for 3-year-olds and up at 4:22 p.m. with non-winners of three racing 1 1/16 miles. Nine 3-year-olds were entered for race 9 at 4:54 p.m. with non-winners of three going 1 1/16 miles on the turf for a purse of $134,000. The final leg in race 10 at 5:25 p.m. is a $120,000 maiden mile for 10 juveniles.

The takeout on the Derby City 6 is 15%, which Churchill Downs said is one of the lowest multi-race wager rates in North America.
