Churchill Downs: Boss Lady Bailey tests class in Keertana

Gutsy allowance winner Boss Lady Bailey will face a class test Saturday when she steps up to stakes company in the 12th running of the $250,000 Keertana for fillies and mares at 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs.

The Keertana Stakes, the headliner on the 11-race program, will go as race 9 at 4:55 p.m. EDT. First post is 12:45 p.m. EDT.

Boss Lady Bailey, a three-time winner trained by Mike Maker for Hooties Racing, scored a nose victory one month ago in a conditioned allowance event at Keeneland, defeating fellow Keertana entrants Marksman Queen and Holy Foley. The 5-year-old daughter of Connect will be ridden by Luis Saez out of post 7.

Boss Lady Bailey will face several competitors exiting stakes company including Strikingly Spun. Trained by Joe Sharp for Highlander Training Center, the daughter of Hard Spun finished third in the Tom Benson Memorial in late March at Fair Grounds. Prior to that start, the 5-year-old finished third in the Marie Krantz Memorial. She’ll be ridden in the Keertana by Jose Ortiz from post 4.
