Florida-bred Chirac, the 5-year-old gelded son of Sligo Bay, is still trying to show he is all the way back with a win in Saturday’s $100,000 Fred W. Hooper Stakes (G3) at Calder Race Course.
Chirac suffered an injury after winning the $300,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes (G3) at Monmouth in August, 2009. He did not return until September and has made three starts. He finished third in the Frisk Me Now Stakes at Monmouth Park in his last outing on Nov. 20.
