Champion Boston Harbor's Dam Dies

Harbor Springs, dam of 1996 champion 2-year-old male Boston Harbor, was euthanized Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Craig and Carrie Brogden's Machmer Hall near Paris, Ky., due to infirmities from old age. The stakes-winning daughter of Vice Regent was 22.

Boston Harbor, who raced as a homebred for William T. Young’s Overbrook Farm, won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and three other graded stakes during his championship season. Boston Harbor, by Capote, entered stud at Overbrook near Lexington and stood there several seasons before being sent to Japan for stallion duty.

Harbor Springs, out of the Restless Wind mare Tinnitus and a half sister to champion Groovy, produced additional stakes winner Cloudburst (by Storm Cat).
