Chamberlain Bridge Wins at Penn National

After a longshot local winner last year, the 38th running of the Governor's Cup at Penn National Race Course returned to form Saturday night in a big way.

Kentucky-based Chamberlain Bridge, sent off at odds of 6-5, rewarded his many backers by putting away a strong field of 11 sprinters to win the $200,000 five-furlong turf sprint.

A year ago, the 6-year-old son of War Chant out of the Trempolino mare She's Got Class came to Penn National and ran third behind local hero Cardashi, who won at 30-1 for trainer Tim Kreiser of Lickdale. Cardashi defeated Blue Sailor that night, with Chamberlain Bridge never factoring in the race.
