Carl Rasak (Razor) is the $25,000 March Head-to-Head Bracket CHAMPION!
Rasak won 6 Head-to-Head matchups in a row, over 3 weekends, to advance through the 64-player bracket. Along the way, he had some close finishes in matchups with some top contest players, but in the end, he outplayed them all to take home the $10,000 First prize and Champion's trophy!
Final Four
Meanwhile, the Final Four matchup between Allan Gregory (Allways allan) and Albert Tiernan (Dodobird) was a back-and-forth, race-by-race fight to the finish. Going into the final race, Tiernan lead with a score of $40.60 to Gregory's $38.60. Gregory's pick in the Santa Anita 8th, Selection, was a close 2nd to add $8.60 to his score, giving him a final score of $47.20. In one of the bad beat stories of all time in a Bracket championship, Tiernan's selection, Nakamoto, was third - a top 2 finish would have won him the game.
Championship Round
On Sunday, the racing action focused once more on Santa Anita, Gulfstream and Fair Grounds. Gregory made the first moves, scoring $29 in the first 8 races. Rasak hit the board with the big play of My Pal Beanie in Fair Grounds Race 9 to score $48 and take the lead. He picked up more steam as the contest progressed, scoring in four of the last 6 races. Gregory wasn't about to slow down, however, scoring again with Gulfstream and Santa Anita picks. Rasak and Gregory both hit with Teelfa at the Fair Grounds, a $39.60 play in the next-to-last contest race!
In the end, Rasak's $113.20 ruled the day and earned the Championship!
Gregory finished up with a respectable $87.20, his highest score of the entire game. For the runner-up, he earns $5,000! Albert Tiernan and Neal Thomas each take home $2,500 for their Final Four appearances. Elite Eight finalists Eric Moomey (Moomeyer), who got two entries to the Elite Eight round, Matt Blair (Saldano) and Paul Sadler (Clover) each won $1,250.
As for the NCAAs - Rasak's choice, Michigan State, and Gregory's pick, Kentucky, have both made it to the Final Four - if you're looking for a sign, this might be it.
