Nevada Litfin, who is tied for sixth in the training standings for the current meet at Canterbury Park, was suspended indefinitely for unspecified “actions detrimental to the integrity of racing” that were “observed by (Minnesota Racing) Commission security” last Wednesday.

The notice posted to the commission website Wednesday was reported first by Daily Racing Form.

Litfin still has the right to a hearing, but while what was termed a summary suspension is in effect, he “is denied privileges of the grounds of all racetracks under the jurisdiction of the Minnesota Racing Commission,” according to the posted notice.

Exactly what led to Litfin’s suspension was not spelled out. The notice said the rules pertaining to his case included those covering the “general authority of stewards, prohibited acts, disciplinary sanctions, disciplinary procedures and conditions precedent to licensing.”

There were no entries found Wednesday night showing Litfin’s name on the website of the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit, the regulator that enforces the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act.

Litfin, 42, is profiled on the Canterbury Park website as being “a multiple stakes-winning trainer (who) first was introduced to racing when he was 9 at Carlton County fair in Barnum, Minn.”

Since he began training on his own in 2000, Litfin has a record of 2,126: 194-214-245 with $3,493,023 in earnings, according to Equibase. During the current meet that began in May, Litfin has won 16 of 68 races with a total of 32 finishes in the money.

Litfin could not be reached for comment or reaction Wednesday night at a telephone number contacted by Horse Racing Nation.
