Canterbury Park received a three-year accreditation from the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority board of directors after an onsite visit by the HISA accreditation team. HISA is tasked with implementing a national, uniform set of integrity and safety rules applied consistently to every Thoroughbred racing participant and racetrack facility.

“Canterbury’s full accreditation status is a testament to our culture of putting the safety of our horses and horsepeople first,” said Amber Carlisle, senior manager of racing operations for Canterbury Park. “We’re blessed to have great cooperation and coordination throughout Canterbury Park, including our racing, track surfaces and security teams, along with the (Minnesota Racing Commission) veterinarians office and the Minnesota HBPA. Everyone involved deserves a lot of credit for Canterbury Park being recognized by HISA as a fully compliant racetrack.”

HISA rules and regulations are designed to enhance the safety and wellbeing of horses and riders and ensuring the integrity of the sport for the benefit of the industry, fans and bettors.

“Canterbury Park has established itself as a model racetrack in full compliance with all of our rules.  I congratulate them on the accreditation,” HISA CEO Lisa Lazarus said.

Canterbury’s accreditation period runs through Aug. 13, 2028.
