Trainer Simon Callaghan will soon take charge of two stakes candidates from overseas.
Ighraa, a 3-year-old filly owned by Englishman Simon Hope currently trained by Henri Graffard, will ship in for the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks on Saturday, August 17. Stableford, a 3-year-old colt owned by the Sangster Family and trained by Brian Meehan in England, is aimed for the $150,000 La Jolla Handicap on Saturday, August 10.
“Stableford is a nice horse, a horse that has been progressing in Europe and I think is going to make his mark at the stakes level here. He’s an exciting prospect,” Callaghan said Thursday morning. “The filly is a stakes winner and I think she’s going to go into that race (Oaks) with a really good chance.”
