CHRB cancels meeting to discuss Santa Anita Park race dates
The special meeting of the California Horse Racing Board that was scheduled for Friday has been canceled, the CHRB announced Monday.
The discussion of Santa Anita Park is being moved to the agenda for the April 18 meeting of the Board. The April 18 meeting will take place in the Baldwin Terrace Room at Santa Anita beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT.
The package of materials for the April 18 meeting will be posted on the CHRB website by Friday. The public is encouraged to attend the April 18 meeting. An audio-only webcast of the meeting can be heard through a link on the CHRB website.
Last week, on the same day California Sen. Dianne Feinstein wrote the California Horse Racing Board saying "racing at Santa Anita should be suspended until the cause or causes of these deaths can be fully investigated," the CHRB issued its initial meeting notice to discuss possible relocation of dates from the Arcadia, Calif., track.
Santa Anita went without further catastrophic injuries in training and racing last week after a spree of 23 occurred since the beginning of the winter meeting on Dec. 26. The track is racing under recently approved medication rules halving the allowable dose of the anti-bleeding drug Lasix along with a ban on a number of other treatments.
