Making his first start since the Kentucky Derby, By My Standards made a triumphant return to the races on Sunday with a dominating win in a second-level allowance optional claimer at Fair Grounds.

With Gabriel Saez in the irons, By My Standards stalked pacesetter Two Emmys through opening fractions of :24.64, :49.29 for a half mile. By My Standards ranged up to Two Emmys on the second turn through six furlongs in 1:13.50 and then drew off in the stretch to win going away by six lengths.

By My Standards completed 1 1/16-miles on a fast track in 1:43.75 and paid $3.00.

Trained by Brett Calhoun, By My Standards qualified for last year's Kentucky Derby by winning the Louisiana Derby (G2) one race prior. Sent off at 18-1, By My Standards was never a factor in the Kentucky Derby before crossing the wire twelfth. He was later moved up to eleventh via disqualification.

According to Calhoun, By My Standards suffered an injury shortly after the Kentucky Derby and the decision was made to give him plenty of time to recover.

"
He had a quarter crack and we knew we were going to miss some of the races we were going to point him toward," Calhoun said. "So we just decided not to fight that and let him rest and recover the rest of the year."
