Busy Day for Breeders' Cup Workers

Of the 155 recorded works on Santa Anita’s tab Saturday, a goodly number were by Breeders’ Cup candidates getting in their final major licks before next Friday and Saturday, when the 30th Breeders’ Cup World Championships unfold at The Great Race Place.

On the main track: Awesome Again Stakes winner Mucho Macho Man (Classic), five furlongs in 1:00.60; Zenyatta runner-up Authenticity (Distaff), four furlongs in a bullet 46.20; Got Shades (Juvenile Turf), 48.80; Groupie Doll (Filly & Mare Sprint), 47.40; Majestic Stride (Sprint), 47.60; Ria Antonia (Juvenile Fillies/Juvenile Fillies Turf), 46.60; Silver Max (Mile), 47.40; Trinniberg (Sprint), 46.80; and We Miss Artie (Juvenile/Juvenile Fillies), 46.60.

Also five furlongs on the main track: Dance With Fate (Juvenile/Juvenile Turf), 1:01.60; Little Mike (Turf), 59.80; Moreno (Classic), a bullet 59.20; Skyring (Turf), 1:00.20; Suns Out Guns Out (Marathon), 1:03.20; and Tour Guide (Turf Sprint), 1:00.20. Skyring and Tour Guide worked in company for D. Wayne Lukas.

Turf workers included: Chips All In (Turf Sprint), four furlongs in 48.40, and Spring to the Sky (Turf Sprint), same distance in a bullet 45.20; at five furlongs, Nesso (Juvenile Fillies Turf), 1:03.40, and No Jet Lag (Mile), 58.80; at six furlongs, Obviously (Mile), a bullet 1:12 flat; at seven furlongs, Bright Thought (Mile), 1:27.80, and Lady of Shamrock (F&M Turf), 1:27.40; and at one mile, Vagabond Shoes (Turf), 1:40 flat.

The Breeders’ Cup wagering menu includes $2 win, place, show and daily double betting; $1 exactas and a $1 daily double from the Distaff to the Classic; 50-cent Trifectas, Pick 3s, Pick 4s, Pick 5s and the Super Hi 5; and 10-cent Superfecta wagering.
