Burning Time Wants Revenge in Foolish Pleasure

Leanne Robbins’ Florida homebred Midnight Serenade obviously relished his first career chance around two turns winning the $75,000 Seacliff Stakes by 2 ¾ lengths going a mile on Juvenile Showcase day, Aug. 27, over Harold Queen’s Burning Time, and the two promising 2-year-old colts hook up again in the Foolish Pleasure Stakes.

Jockey Jose Alvarez will be back aboard Midnight Serenade for trainer Steve DiMauro after they teamed up to rally from last of 10 on the far turn of the Seacliff to run by the field. The son of Bandini had won a pair of sprints here in July following a fourth and fifth-place finish to begin his career.

Burning Time is a homebred son of Burning Roma that also appeared to like the longer distance of the Seacliff after two starts in sprints for trainer David Fawkes. Burning Time finished second in his debut for a $40,000 claiming tag and no takers and ninth after a poor start in the $75,000 Dr. Fager Division of the Florida Stallion Stakes prior to the Seacliff.

Completing the field of six drawn for the Foolish Pleasure are Signal Hill Farms’ Mucho Mas Macho, Luis Jurado; ARS Stable’s Bartolome, Juan Leyva; Gary Aiken’s Kings Over, Ameth Gonzalez; and Just For Fun Stable’s Personal Interest, Daniel Centeno.
