Buchanon Named BSW Bloodstock, Elite Sales Client Relations Manager

Jackson Buchanon has been named manager of client relations at BSW Bloodstock and Elite Sales, a pair of industry companies owned by business partners Bradley Weisbord and Liz Crow.

“We have been fortunate to see BSW Bloodstock grow substantially since launching in 2014, and we’re excited to add another talented young horseman like Jackson to the team to help us continue that growth, particularly in our new venture with Elite Sales,” said Weisbord. “I view the Godolphin Flying Start program like the Harvard Business School for our sport, and Jackson, like the rest of his peers, has a very well-rounded education. He will need that coming into our very active and diverse bloodstock and sales companies, and I’m confident he will be a strong asset to our team.”

Buchanon will start in his new role with BSW Bloodstock and Elite Sales next month following his upcoming graduation from the Godolphin Flying Start program, a two-year international management and leadership training program for the Thoroughbred industry. During his time with Godolphin Flying Start, he worked for BSW Bloodstock in America, trainer Chris Waller in Australia, Falcon and Associates in Dubai, and David O'Meara in the U.K.

Prior to Godolphin Flying Start, Buchanon, a native of Nashville, TN, graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Equine Science and Management. He also gained valuable industry experience at different stops through college, including at Dapple Stud, Maine Chance Horse Farm, Ashford Stud, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock, Fasig-Tipton, and with trainers John Paul Pucek and Gerry Carwood.

Buchanon’s primary focus will be maintaining the highest quality of service possible to BSW Bloodstock and Elite Sales clients through enhanced communication, service and marketing. He will be heavily involved with public auction sales and private sales, working to provide all parties – both buyers and sellers – with all relevant information, as well as business development.

They bring a level of passion and work ethic that is contagious. Following the completion of my internship with them, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of. I would not be in this position today had it not been for all the great people of this industry that gave me opportunities along the way, and I am very grateful for that. I am excited to begin this next step of my career and look forward to working in this great industry.”

BSW Bloodstock, with offices in Lexington, New York and South Florida, has enjoyed success with over 50 Graded stakes victories since launching in 2014, and currently has roughly 350 horses under its management. In 2016, BSW privately bought into three-time Grade 1 winner Exaggerator, who gave the company its first classic win when the colt captured the Preakness S. (G1).

Just three weeks later, BSW Bloodstock became associated with its second classic winner, as the newly-acquired Creator captured the Belmont S. (G1). In 2016, BSW syndicated Donn H. (G1) winner Mshawish and Exaggerator for stud duties. Other recent Grade 1-winning acquisitions include Mind Your Biscuits, Decked Out and Sharla Rae, among others. In April, BSW Bloodstock also brokered the stallion deal for leading 3-year-old Irish War Cry to stand at Hill ‘n’ Dale upon retirement, and it manages the racing operations of many top owners including Al Shaqab Racing, Sol Kumin, SF Bloodstock and Bobby Flay.

Elite Sales, a newly-formed subsidiary of BSW Bloodstock, is a racehorse sales business specifically tailored to selling horses in training and broodmare prospects coming off the racetrack at public auction. It will offer consignments at the annual July and November horses-in-training sales, with the goal of carving a niche in the market based on Weisbord’s and Crow’s expertise in trading horses in training.
