Trainer Chad Brown, a three-time winner of the Grade I Beverly D. at Arlington International Racecourse, is likely to have a trio of runners in the filly and mare race on Aug. 12. The Beverly D. is a “Win and You’re In” even for the Grade I $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar on Nov. 4.

Sheep Pond Partners and Bradley Thoroughbreds’ Dacita (CHI), winner of the Grade I Diana at Saratoga last summer, began her 2017 season with a close second-place finish in the Grade III Beaugay Stakes at Belmont Park in May before finishing off the board in the Grade II New York Stakes on June 9. The 6-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy was a three-time Group I winner in her native Chile before coming to North America, and will be looking to add another prestigious victory to her resume.

Juddmonte Farms’ homebred Grand Jete (GB), a 4-year-old filly by Dansili (GB), is undefeated in her three starts this year, including the Grade III Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park on June 3. The daughter of multiple French graded-stakes winner Modern Look is a winner on the turf at a mile as well as 1 1/16-miles, and holds a third-place finish over the Polytrack in France going the Beverly D. distance of 1 3/16-miles.

Brown may also saddle Rainha Da Bateria as part of Lael Stables’ duo of entries, which is likely to include Arnaud Delacour trainee Hawksmoor (IRE). The 5-year-old mare by Broken Vow finished third behind Dacita in last year’s Diana and is coming off a win at Woodbine on July 2 in the Grade II Dance Smartly Stakes.

Brown won the 2016 Beverly D. with Sea Calisi (FR) for owner Martin Schwartz. His prior victories came in 2015 with Michael Kisber, Bradley Thoroughbreds and Nelson McMakin’s Watsdachances and in 2011 with Schwartz’s Stacelita (FR).
