Hronis Racing’s Brother Pete, winless in nine starts since breaking his maiden 14 months ago at Hollywood Park, rallied from last place under Corey Nakatani to prevail in a three-horse blanket finish in the featured $77,000 Del Mar Rotary Purse Thursday.

Brother Pete, who lagged in ninth place early in the mile and three-eighths race over Del Mar’s infield grass course, forged ahead in the final strides to defeat Christopher Street by a head, with Bailoutbobby a nose farther back in third position.

Brother Pete accomplished the distance in 2:14.80 and returned $14.40, $6.60 and $4.80 to his supporters in a crowd of  8,364.  Christopher Street, like the winner trained by John Sadler, paid $4 and $3.20, while Bailoutbobby returned $4.60 to show.

Brother Pete is a four-year-old son of Broken Vow bred in Florida.

There was one perfect ticket in the Pick Six and it paid $75,782.60.
