Breeders' Cup favorite Midnight Bisou to race on in 2020
Jeff Bloom, whose Bloom Racing Stable campaigns Midnight Bisou along with Sol Kumin's Madaket Stables, announced Saturday morning that the Breeders' Cup Distaff favorite will race on in 2020.
The 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute, 7-for-7 entering the Distaff and a Horse of the Year contender, was previously scheduled to head to the auction ring next week as part of Fasig-Tipton's November Sale.
Speaking on the Breeders' Cup Players Show, Bloom said Saturday afternoon that he missed some sleep last night waiting make this choice with his partners.
"We wanted to make that decision, if we were going to make it, before she ran today so the outcome of the race really had no bearing whatsoever on the decision," he said. "She's just such a wonderful filly. She's great for the fans, she's great for the sport, and she's obviously great for us.
"We'll just delay the inevitable, which is her going off to be a broodmare the following year."
The filly most recently tuned up for the Distaff by winning the Beldame Stakes (G2), her second straight nine-furlong victory. She'll go the same distance in the Breeders' Cup.
