Coolmore has secured the breeding rights to Grade 1 winner Eight Rings with plans to stand the colt at Coolmore America's Ashford Stud following his retirement from racing.
Owned and raced by a partnership comprised of SF Racing, LLC, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, LLC, Frederick Hertrich, III, John D. Fielding and Golconda Stables, Eight Rings was acquired for $520,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September yearling sale. He was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm and is trained by Bob Baffert.
Eight Rings broke his maiden in his first start, and most recently captured the American Pharoah Stakes (G1). The Empire Maker colt is slated to start next in Friday's Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita.
"We are excited that Eight Rings will have the opportunity to stand at Coolmore following retirement,” Tom Ryan of SF Racing said in a press release.
“As a member of the first racing stable of our co-ownership group we are particularly proud of Eight Rings and it is important to all of us that he be given the best possible chance at stud.
“We have the utmost respect for Coolmore and their ability to support world class stallion prospects, which we hope and expect Eight Rings to be.”
”Eight Rings was awesome in the American Pharoah Stakes and looks to be a colt with a huge future,” added Ashford manager Dermot Ryan. “We're delighted he's going to end up in Ashford.”
