Breeders’ Cup: See impact of weekend on new futures odds

It looked like oddsmakers and bettors gave Forza Di Oro a little more scrutiny in the Breeders’ Cup futures market.

Costa Rica-based Bovada moved the 4-year-old Speightstown colt’s odds out to 12-1 to win the $6 million Classic this fall at Del Mar. He had opened last week at 10-1 after finishing third as the 11-10 favorite Sept. 4 in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) at Saratoga.

Turf Sprint

Gear Jockey had been 0-for-5 in graded stakes. That was before the 4-year-old Twirling Candy colt won Saturday in the Turf Sprint (G3) at Kentucky Downs. That victory thrust Gear Jockey into the Breeders’ Cup futures at 8-1. Fast Boat and Casa Creed, Saturday’s fourth- and fifth-place finishers, respectively, drifted to longer odds in the futures. So did Dragon Symbol, the beaten favorite Sunday in the Flying Five (G1) in Ireland.

Filly & Mare Sprint

There were no changes from last week. With her 9-for-10 record and $1,681,500 in earnings, five-time Grade 1 winner Gamine is still the shortest-priced favorite of Breeders’ Cup race in the Bovada futures.
