Monomoy Girl holds a decisive edge as the 2-1 early favorite for the 2020 Breeders' Cup Distaff, but the battle for second choice is a scramble in this deep division. Midnight Bisou, Shedaresthedevil and Gamine each are listed as 5-1 co-second choices as they all try to chase one of racing's true superstars.

It took a year and a half and multiple setbacks for Monomoy Girl to return to the races following her 2018 Breeders' Cup Distaff win, but the champ has returned as good as ever and is on track to add to her sparkling resume in the 2020 Distaff.

While the Brad Cox-trained daughter of Tapizar has been nearly unbeatable in 14 lifetime starts, the toughest test of her career awaits in this year's Distaff. One of Monomoy Girl's two lifetime losses came at the hands of multiple Grade 1 winner Midnight Bisou, who made Maximum Security work to win the Saudi Cup earlier this year and is looking to rebound following a surprising loss last time out in the Personal Ensign (G1).

If Midnight Bisou was not enough to worry about, Monomoy Girl could have her hands full with one of the toughest 3-year-old filly classes in recent years. Everyone knew how good Gamine, Swiss Skydiver and Speech were, but the dynamite victory by Shedaresthedevil in a fast time in the Kentucky Oaks proved that there are four legitimate threats in that division.

We turn our attention to the early odds that have been released on the Distaff by foreign bookmakers for a better understanding of what price the top contenders will be on the day of the Distaff. Fighting Mad, who has seized control as California's leading lady, stands out as a runner who offers tremendous value at 16-1.

Below is the best available current price for the main contenders in this Grade 1 affair.
