Breeders' Cup: Appleby's Military Code is scratched
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
Military Code, a Godolphin homebred trained by Charlie Appleby, will be scratched from the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
Godolphin said in a post on X that his connections were "unhappy with how Military Code pulled out this morning."
Military Code was 12-1 on the morning line for the Juvenile Turf Sprint, and William Buick was slated to have the mount.
A son of Wootton Bassett, Military Code won his first two starts at Ascot and Newmarket before going winless in his last four starts. Most recently, he was second in the Julia Graves Roses Stakes at York.
The defection moves Later Than Planned up from the also-eligibles. Trained by Phil D'Amato, the Ireland-bred colt has a 4: 2-1-0 record and most recently won the listed Speakeasy Stakes at Santa Anita. He was 20-1 on the morning line.
True Love, who has a 6: 3-3-0 record for trainer Aidan O'Brien, was the morning-line favorite at 7-2.
