Algiers, winner of two group stakes this year and runner-up in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup, was one of six Breeders' Cup scratches announced late Tuesday.

The 6-year-old gelding trained by Simon Crisford was 6-1 on the morning line for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. Assistant trainer Edward Crisford, Simon's son, told Daily Racing Form that his right front foot was "red-hot" after training at Santa Anita on Tuesday.

Practical Move, the second choice on the morning line for the Dirt Mile, died at Santa Anita on Tuesday after an apparent cardiac arrest.

The highest-profile horse to scratch was Belmont Stakes and Travers (G1) winner Arcangelo, who will miss the Breeders' Cup Classic with a foot problem.

Other scratches announced Tuesday:

Ecoro Neo, 30-1 for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Trained by Mori Hideyuki.

Liam's Journey, 30-1 for the Juvenile Turf. Trained by Michael Maker.

Get Smokin, 30-1 for the Turf. Trained by Mark Casse.
