Breeders' Cup 2020: Classic Preview & Odds

Improbable and Tiz the Law remain the first and second choices in early odds for the 2020 Breeders' Cup Classic, but a new contender joined the next bunch.

After her gutsy win in Saturday's Preakness Stakes Swiss Skydiver has joined Authentic and Maximum Security in a three-way tie for third choice, each at 8-1.

Improbable is the favorite, at 4-1, and Tiz the Law stands at 5-1. Other than the top five, no contenders have early odds shorter than 12-1.

The question that remains is whether Swiss Skydiver will face the boys in the 1 1/4-mile Classic or say in her division and run in the 1 1/8-mile Breeders' Cup Distaff.

Owner Peter Callahan said he was leaning toward the Distaff rather than have the Daredevil filly face males for the third time this season. Her first effort in mixed company was in the Blue Grass Stakes (G2), where she finished second to Art Collector.

Trainer Kenny McPeek said on the "Thoroughbred Los Angeles" radio program Sunday that he likes the longer distance for Swiss Skydiver but that he and Callahan would look at the competition before making a decision.

Swiss Skydiver earned a fees-paid berth in both the Classic, with her win in the Preakness, and the Distaff, with her win in the Alabama (G1).

Below are the best prices in early odds that have been released on the Classic by international bookmakers.

Note that some horses listed are long shots to even run in the Breeders' Cup Classic at this point.
