Breeders’ Cup 2017 pre-entries due Monday; when are they announced?
Breeders’ Cup 2017 pre-entry, the first stage in connections’ payments to run in next month’s championships, are due Monday, but the tougher decisions can wait.
The pre-entered fields will be announced at 11:30 a.m. ET Wednesday via a live stream available at BreedersCup.com for the 13 Grade 1 races, with purse money exceeding $28 million.
It’s on Monday, Oct. 30 — when final entries are taken and post positions drawn — that connections must make the final decision to run. So, who will have a tough choice to make?
• According to the Daily Racing Form, Bob Baffert-trained Cupid will likely be pre-entered both for the Breeders’ Cup Classic and Dirt Mile.
• Diversify, the New York-bred winner of Belmont’s Jockey Club Gold Cup, is still “on the fence” to try the Classic or stay home for the Grade 1 Cigar Mile later in November.
• Midnight Storm is thought to prefer the Breeders’ Cup Turf, but before heading off to stud, the Grade 1 winner could try the Dirt Mile.
