Brattle House, a $775,000 yearling purchase in August 2019 at Saratoga, debuted an impressive winner Sunday at Aqueduct.

The 2-year-old Malibu Moon filly scored by 5 1/4 lengths in a one-mile maiden special weight race that drew a field of eight. Jockey Joel Rosario piloted Brattle House, who went off an even-money favorite for her first start.

Christophe Clement bred Brattle House in New York along with Oak Bluff Stables. Clement now trains the filly for OXO Equine, which purchased her last summer.

“She’s a beautiful looking filly,” Clement said. “She’s got the most beautiful walk. She’s very light on her feet.

“I had two choices, to run her short or a mile. I just thought with the stride, we were better off to run at a mile, and thank God she proved me right.”

Breaking from the inside post, Brattle House went out to an early lead under Rosario. The filly led the field through fractions of 24.27, 48.75 and 1:14.42 over a fast track.

Brattle House drew away from second-place Flower’s Fortune coming into the stretch and cruised on to a comfortable win.

“I just told (Rosario) to break away and just be comfortable,” Clement said. “Even if she was in the lead, I don’t think it was that aggressive of a lead. She’s a very, very good mover.”
