Bogachiel took control early and poured it on late for a seven-length victory Friday in the $15,100 Johnsonville Purse at Emerald Downs.
The only 3-year-old in the race, Bogachiel ran 6-½ furlongs in 1:14 4/5 on a fast track and paid $11.40, $6 and $2.80. Apprentice Pedro Terrero was aboard the winner for trainer Bonnie Jenne and owner-breeder Frank McDonald of Marysville, Wash.
A Washington-bred by red-hot sire Harbor the Gold, Bogachiel earned $8,305 to increase his bankroll to $24,586. The gelding, whose previous start was at one mile in the Pepsi-Cola Handicap, has compiled a 2-2-0 record in eight starts overall.
