Dicey Flats was originally a $32,000 RNA at the 2017 Keeneland November sale, but Jeff Bloom picked up the Flatter mare when he heard the purchase price would go to a good cause.

Taylor Made Stallions' Mark Taylor told Bloom all of the money would go to the tuition assistance program at Lexington Catholic High School, and so Bloom ended up paying $20,000 for Dicey Flats, according to the Blood Horse.

“I just wanted to help out the cause,” Bloom said. “I had run into Mark and I wasn't looking for that mare, but it was just one of those things—it was for a good cause and we'll add another mare to our broodmare band and help those guys. It was 100% tied into the cause.”

Offered as Hip 1742 and consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, Dicey Flats is in foal to Verrazano. Bloom said the mare will ship to New York and breed to Majestic City after she foals.

“It think it’s a really great idea,” Bloom said. “...It was an easy fit. Anytime organization can think out of the box and be creative, I’m in favor of it.”
