Blind Luck Storms Home in La Troienne

Blind Luck went to her knees at the start and rallied boldly in the lane to take Friday's Grade 2 La Trioenne at Churchill Downs.

As expected, Absinthe Minded went straight to the front and carved out fractions of :24.32, :48.54, and 1:11.88.  Quiet Giant chased from the inside post.

Last year's La Troienne winner Unrivaled Belle was a bit farther back than normal and that probably cost her the decision. She rallied wide under Kent Desormeaux and still got the jump on Blind Luck but it was not quite enough.

All Due Respect stalked the place under Javier Castellano and nipped Absintheminded for the show. Ravi's Song, Quiet Giant, Stage Magic, and Seeking The Title followed. Miss Luann scratched.

2010 Kentucky Oaks winner Blind Luck ended her five race runner-up streak. She completed her eight and one-half furlong journey in 142.93 and paid $4.80 to win. Garrett Gomez rode the winner for Jerry Hollendorfer.
