Bladerunners: Make all Derby & Oaks Entrants Medication History Public

BLADERUNNERS, The National Horse Racing Commission Movement has launched a grassroots campaign requesting that the veterinary treatment and medication records of all horses entered in the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks races will be made publicly available.

For the next four weeks BLADERUNNERS supporters will be contacting authorities and executives within the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, Churchill Downs, Inc., and The Jockey Club, to request the disclosure of the veterinary records be made a mandatory requirement for horses entered in the prestigious races.

Sean Kerr, Interim Director of BLADERUNNERS, comments, “It is time for horse racing to create some good news – we have had enough bad news. It is time to reassure the public that horse racing does not subject the sport’s athletes to improper and excessive medication usage.

Horse racing can only benefit from sending a sincere message to the public:

Our sport is clean and we care about the welfare of the racehorse.”
