Bind Runs Second Again

Al Stall Jr.'s highly regarded 3-year-old colt Bind, a sharp Feb 19 debut sprint winner at Fair Grounds, lost for the second time as the heavy favorite.

Once again racing over a route of ground in the entry level allowance ranks, Bind stalked the pace but could not get by 4-year-old returnee Worldly. He was also clearly second best behind Prime Cut in a similar spot in New Orleans on March 26.

Supreme Ruler, a workmate for Kentucky Derby entrant Archarcharch, rallied to finish 3rd. El Grayling, Eddie Set Go, Lubango, Mr. Bristol, and Smokin Fast completed the order of finish.

Worldly was briefly on the 2010 Derby trail but unplaced efforts in the Lecomte and Risen Star dashed his hopes. He returned later that year to just miss in a pair of graded events and Saturday's win was his first start in more than seven months. Rafael Bejarano rode the winner for Paul McGee.
