Marco Thoroughbred Corp.’s Big John B angled off the inside turning for home before pushing past S S Skittles in the late stages to capture the $44,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday by a length and a half.

Trained by Bobby Dibona and ridden by Joe Bravo, Big John B covered the mile over “good” turf in 1:37 flat and returned $4.20, $3 and $2.10 as the favorite in the field of seven colts and geldings.  S S Skittles completed the $41.60 exacta and paid $9.20 to place and $3.80 to show.  It was another ¾ of a length back to Sharp Omar, who paid $2.40 to show.

A 4-year-old gelding by Hard Spun from the Doneraile Court mare Baldomera, Big John B has won four races this year and sports a lifetime record of 5-4-3 from 17 starts.
