Big Drink of Water enters new barn for Arlington-Washington Futurity

Seven juvenile colts and geldings will assemble Saturday’s for the 84th running of the $75,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity at Arlington International Racecourse, with the seven-furlong event over the all-weather track is headlined by stakes-winner Big Drink of Water.

The son of Soldat was privately purchased by Patricia’s Hope following his triumph in the Victoria Stakes on July 14 at Woodbine and transferred to trainer Larry Rivelli. A two-time winner, the colt will receive the services of Jose Valdivia, Jr. as the duo breaks from the outside gate.

Kenneth Fishbein’s Castlewood Terrace enters the Futurity off a third-place finish in the Prairie Meadows Juvenile Stakes on August 10. A full brother to multiple stakes winner Whereshetoldmetogo, the colt by El Padrino broke his maiden going a mile on the turf at Arlington over next-out winner Best You Ever Seen. Edgar Perez returns to the saddle for trainer Cheryl Winebaugh to start from post four.

Ben Colebrook will saddle KRA Stud Farm’s Knicks Go for his third career start. The son of Paynter broke his maiden on debut by 3 1/2 lengths at Ellis Park despite an erratic stretch run before finishing off the board in the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga Race Course three weeks later. Jockey Chris Emigh will guide the colt from gate five.

Distant Shore (Jermaine Bridgmohan, rail), Hide the Demon (Mitchell Murrill, post two), Sayin Grace (Sophie Doyle, post three), and Coup de Ville (Juan Molina, Jr., post six) complete the entries.

One race later, nine juvenile fillies will compete in the 84th running of the $75,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie set for seven furlongs on the main track. Purchased following her six-length maiden win over the local course, Lothenbach Stables’ Winning Envelope will look to prove her class for new trainer Chris Block. Carlos Marquez, Jr., who was aboard the daughter of More Than Ready for her trip to the winner’s circle, returns to the saddle as the pair breaks from post four.

Ben Colebrook-trained Beach Getaway will be looking to improve on stakes-placings in her previous two starts for owner James Thares. Following her maiden win in June, the daughter of Run Away and Hide finished third in the Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs as well as the Prairie Gold Lassie at Prairie Meadows. Julio Felix will ride from gate seven.

Trainer Brad Cox will send out Meadow Dance following her three-length victory at Ellis Park last month. The daughter of Jimmy Creed is owned by Right Time Racing III in partnership with Madaket Stables. Arlington’s leading rider Jose Valdivia, Jr. will take the reins on the filly as they start from gate five.

Into Trouble (Chris Emigh, post one), Craft Show (Sophie Doyle, post two), Thunderous Gem (Edgar Perez, post three), Chrome Attack (Brittany Vandenberg, post six), Get None (Harry Hernandez, post eight), Next Dance (Mitchell Murrill, post nine) complete the field.
