Big Drama Seeks BC Sprint Repeat

Big Drama, last year's Breeders' Cup Sprint winner at Churchill Downs, hopes history repeats itself in Saturday's renewal.

The David Fawkes trainee has only run twice since winning the 2010 Sprint. He easily captured the G3 Mr. Prospector in his January return at Gulfstream and did not resurface until winning a minor stakes race against three rivals at Calder in September. Ramon Dominguez will ride him for the first time on Saturday.

Euroears is probably the one to catch from the rail. He experienced a troubled start and never got involved in muddy G1 Vosburgh but is firing bullets for this and captured two graded sprints earlier this year.

Vosburgh hero Giant Ryan has rattled off six straight and should make his presence felt throughout.

Amazombie invades from California for Bill Spawr. The gem of consistency exits a nice win in the G1 Ancient Title and is a head away from a perfect 4-for-4 record on conventional dirt. Mike Smith takes his usual seat aboard the 5-year-old gelding.

Nick Zito surprisingly chose this spot over the Dirt Mile for Jackson Bend. He is 2-for-2 at six furlongs but has not competed in a race this short in over two years.

Force Freeze adores conventional dirt and rarely gets respect at the betting windows. He looms a pace factor at the very least under John Velazquez.

Aikenite packs a decent late kick but might be left with too much to do at this distance.

Wayne Lukas sends out Hamazing Destiny, and the 5-year-old son of Salt Lake finished 3rd in this event last year.

Big Drama's stablemate Apriority rounds out the field. The consistent stalking type exits a disappointing try in the Vosburgh and is winless in four graded attempts.
