Sunday's $75,000 Kalookan Queen Stakes from Santa Anita Park features nine fillies and mares dashing 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track. There are a couple of horses listed at 6-1 morning line with contrasting running styles, and one of those is a solid trifecta threat.
Use: #4 Cuddle Alert (6-1)
Cuddle Alert is a hard-knocking California-bred 7-year-old mare with an affinity for this course and distance. She exits a good 2nd in the $75,000 Bear Fan Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on all-weather ground, and was less than a length behind today's highly regarded rival Princess Karen in the Grade 3 LA Woman a few starts back. She gets pace to chase in the paper race and is a must-use in the exotics at the very least.
Lose: #7 Cuyathy (6-1)
Cuyathy exits a razor sharp wire-to-wire victory at this course/distance vs. optional claiming company, and her trainer William Morey is 4-for-7 at the current Santa Anita meet. However, she meets two sharp pace rivals, 9-5 morning line favorite Selcourt, and 5-2 second choice Princess Karen, and appears to be in deep water from a pace and class standpoint.
