Belmont weather: Rain is in the forecast for Friday, Saturday

It looks like the Belmont Stakes racing festival at Saratoga could be a rainy one.

The track will offer 14 graded stakes, beginning Thursday and culminating with the Belmont Stakes on Saturday. The third leg of the Triple Crown was moved to upstate New York because of construction at Belmont Park.

The highest chance of rain is Thursday. The National Weather Service forecast said showers and thunderstorms are likely, with an 80 percent chance of precipitation and a high near 81.

There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation on Friday, with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 77. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent Friday night.

The Saturday forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny with a high near 71. There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

The forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of showers on Sunday, with a high near 74.
