Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty was made a narrow favorite this week by a Las Vegas bookmaker taking futures action for Belmont Stakes 2025.

Caesars Sportsbook of Nevada opened Sovereignty as the 8-5 favorite with Preakness victor and Derby runner-up Journalism as the 9-5 second choice for Saturday’s 1 1/4-mile classic at Saratoga.

DeRosa: Belmont Stakes 2025 fair odds.

Baeza was listed Sunday morning at 9-2, Rodríguez 11-2, Hill Road 12-1, Heart of Honor 20-1 and Uncaged 20-1.

Entries for the Belmont close Sunday, but the race will not be drawn until Monday at 5 p.m. EDT. The Caesars futures, which also are available in Nevada at its William Hill outlets and its sports-betting apps, are expected to close just the draw with a new fixed-odds pool reopening once the post positions are determined.

Caesars was the only betting outlet offering Kentucky Derby 2025 futures from late winter through the spring. Circa Sports had a competing pool that ran from 2020 to 2024. Wynn Las Vegas had been a longstanding presence with its racing futures before oddsmaker Johnny Avello left for DraftKings in 2018.
