Belmont day all-sources handle slips 19% to $101.9 million
Saturday’s 12-race Belmont Stakes day card, highlighted by Sovereignty’s victory in the Belmont Stakes, generated all-sources handle of $101,861,883.
That's 19% lower than last year's all-sources handle of $125,748,941, which is a New York Racing Association record for a non-Triple Crown year.
Heavy rain in the Saratoga Springs region on Saturday forced all races off the turf. In addition, NYRA postponed the Grade 1 Jaipur, a win-and-you’re-in for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, and the Manhattan (G1).
The pair of Grade 1s, originally part of a 14-race card on Belmont Stakes day, will be run Sunday to close out the 2025 Belmont Stakes racing festival.
Paid attendance on Saturday was 46,243.
On-track handle for the Belmont Stakes day card, which included three Grade 1 races among six graded stakes, was $10,440,740.
All-sources handle for the Belmont Stakes, which was carded as Race 13, was $55,456,793.
The Belmont Stakes racing Festival concludes Sunday with a 13-race card headlined by the Manhattan and Jaipur. First post is 12:10 p.m.
