If early betting on Belmont Stakes 2022 was an accurate barometer, then two-time Grade 2 winner Mo Donegal will be a favorite for the third time in his racing career.

As he was through the first day of betting Friday, the Uncle Mo colt trained by Todd Pletcher carried the shortest odds Saturday in pari-mutuel betting that was expected to end up with more than $17 million in the win pool.

Mo Donegal finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby to 80-1 long shot Rich Strike, who maintained his place as the second choice in the wagering. Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up Nest continued to have the third-shortest odds in the field of eight.

Morning line favorite We the People, winner of the 1 1/8-mile Peter Pan over the Belmont course, was the fourth choice.

These were the odds Saturday at 6 p.m. EDT.
