Belmont Stakes 2022: Las Vegas sets fixed-odds prices

Taking their cue from the morning line, Las Vegas bookmakers made We the People their early favorite Tuesday in fixed-odds betting for this weekend’s Belmont Stakes.

The Peter Pan (G3) winner opened with a best price of 9-4 (plus 255) at the Westgate Superbook. The Constitution colt trained by Rodolphe Brisset also was priced at 11-5 (plus 220) at Circa Sports and 9-5 (plus 180) at Caesars Sportsbook at William Hill. We the People had his morning-line odds set at 2-1 by New York Racing Association handicapper David Aragona.

Mo Donegal, the two-time Grade 2 winner who finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby, was best-priced at 5-2 (plus 250) at the Westgate after being installed at the same odds on the morning line.

Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike created early steam at Circa, where he opened at 5-1 before being bet down to nearly 9-2 (plus 455). His morning-line odds were set at 7-2 (plus 350).

Creative Minister, who finished third in the Preakness, opened at best odds of 7-1 at both Circa and the Westgate after being established at 6-1 by NYRA.

Nest, bidding to be the first filly to win the Belmont in 15 years, showed up in Nevada at 10-1 at Caesars at William Hill and at the Westgate. The Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up had her price set at 8-1 on the morning line.

Fixed-odds betting on the Belmont will remain open at the Nevada racebooks until shortly before post time Saturday at 6:46 p.m. EDT.
