Belmont Stakes 2017 favorite Irish War Cry is back down to 7-2 and has been the top choice since morning line odds were set. Despite coming up empty in the Kentucky Derby and finishing 10th, impressive wins in the Holy Bull and Wood Memorial have made him a popular choice.

Lookin At Lee has held his odds of 5-1 throughout and became the second choice when Epicharis, now scratched, began to show lameness in his right front. Tapwrit has also been bet down to the same odds.

Twisted Tom and Senior Investment are both 7-1, with California shipper Gormley at 8-1.

Currently at 4-1, the Wood Memorial hero, Irish War Cry is still holding onto the lukewarm favorite position for Belmont Stakes 2017. Lookin At Lee, the only horse to run in all three legs, is a close second choice and remains at 5-1.

Epicharis has been scratched from the Belmont Stakes due to right front lameness. After travelling from Japan, he missed training the last few days before the Belmont.

Also continuing to make favorable impressions are Tapwrit (5-1), Senior Investment (6-1), and Twisted Tom (7-1). Tapwrit’s odds have only slightly fallen from the morning line, Senior Investment is currently paying half of his original odds, and Twisted Tom, originally the second longest shot behind Hollywood Handsome, has decreased from 20-1.

Patch’s odds increased yesterday evening, but are now going the opposite way. The one-eyed horse also received lower odds than expected in the Kentucky Derby by becoming a fan-favorite.

Friday, June 9 – 5:00pm ET

At 7-2, Irish War Cry remains the Belmont Stakes 2017 favorite. The absence of Classic Empire left a wide open field, but winning the Holy Bull and the Wood Memorial placed Irish War Cry at the top. Kentucky Derby runner-up Lookin At Lee is the 5-1 second choice.

Japanese contender Epicharis, who was the 4-1 second choice on the morning line, has increased to 12-1. Possible lameness in his right front hoof could be the reason bettors have backed off.

Tapwrit is currently holding onto his 6-1 odds and has moved up as the third choice. He will be looking to regain his winning form, and give his sire, Tapit, a third Belmont win.

Twisted Tom was originally 20-1, but his odds have dropped to 8-1. Trainer Chad Brown sent out Cloud Computing to an upset win in the Preakness Stakes over Classic Empire. He now hopes to accomplish the same in the Belmont with Twisted Tom.

Preakness third place-finisher Senior Investment has also received more interest. Originally at 12-1, he has now dropped to 7-1.
