Belmont Stakes 2016: Twitter Updates
The Belmont Stakes 2016 seemed to draw several closers this year and tomorrow will be the test to see who really can go the mile-and-a-half distance. Trainers are finishing up the final preparations for their horses, some being popular picks and others being complete longshots.
Exaggerator: The Belmont favorite had one last gallop this morning to prepare for his start tomorrow in his third Triple Crown race.
Stradivari: Even with less race experience, Stradivari was turning heads on Belmont Park’s training track yesterday morning during his gallop.
Destin: He’s had a lot of time in between his last two races, but the Giant’s Causeway colt is steadily maturing.
Cherry Wine: After a great runner-up finish in the Preakness, Cherry Wine is looking like a good horse for the Belmont.
Suddenbreakingnews: He’s not only gotten media attention for his new ridgling status, but also because he could fly home late to steal Belmont victory.
Creator: Creator will be looking to rebound from the Kentucky Derby, and he seems to have more favor in the Belmont than he did five weeks ago in Kentucky.
Governor Malibu: The same trainer-jockey combination, Christophe Clement and Joel Rosario, won the Belmont just two years ago with Tonalist. Governor Malibu seems to be the favorite longshot in the field.
Lani: According to trainer Mikio Matsunaga, Lani has taken a liking to Belmont Park and is finally settling down and getting to work.
Brody’s Cause: Trainer Dale Romans is high on both Brody's Cause, coming off a five week break, and his stablemate Cherry Wine.
Forever d’Oro: One of two maiden winners being sent out by Dallas Stewart and Charles Fipke. The connections will see how good their horses really are in the Belmont.
Seeking the Soul: Seeking the Soul will leave the Belmont Park starting gate right next to his stablemate.
Gettysburg: Many people are expecting Gettysburg to be the pacesetter for Creator, a closer. Both horses are owned by WinStar Farm, LLC and trained by Steve Asmussen.
Trojan Nation: The lone maiden in the field will try once again to win in stakes company, but the odds remain stacked against him.
