Belmont 2018: Post positions and morning line odds

Nine rivals entered to take on Justify in his bid to sweep the Triple Crown series, with the final test coming in Saturday's 2018 Belmont Stakes.

Made a 4-5 morning line favorite, the unbeaten colt landed the No. 1 post position Tuesday at the draw held inside Citi Field, home of the New York Mets and not far from the site of this weekend's race, Belmont Park.

That could present a challenge, as the front-running Justify has enjoyed breaking outside the other known speed in the first leg of the Triple Crown. To add, he'll face quite the field in the Belmont.

“I never do like to draw the rail, but my horses seem to live in it," said Justify's trainer, Bob Baffert. "I just feel that, I think most importantly, the horse is doing well.

"...We have it. We can't change it. So we'll just deal with it."

Top challengers include the runner-up (Bravazo) and third-place finisher (Tenfold) from the Preakness Stakes. Additionally, known closers Hofburg and Vino Rosso enter fresh after running in the Kentucky Derby.

Other contenders are: Noble Indy, Gronkowski, Free Drop Billy, Blended Citizen and Restoring Hope, a second entry from the Baffert barn.

Be aware that, as with the first two legs of the Triple Crown, rain is back in the forecast.

Justify is bidding to become American racing's 13th Triple Crown winner, and doing so on the heels of Baffert-trained American Pharoah's 2015 sweep. Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith rides Justify, who will sport co-owner China Horse Club's red and yellow silks in the Belmont.

Post time for Saturday's race is 6:47 p.m.
