Jockey Rafael Bejarano was fined $200 for misjudging the finish line at Oaklawn on Sunday.

According to the stewards' ruling, the veteran jockey struck his mount after the finish of the third race.

Bejarano was aboard Moon Over Choctaw in a maiden claiming race for 3-year-old fillies going one mile. He crossed the finish line with a one-length win but continued to urge the filly to the usual finish line.

Oaklawn uses an alternate finish at the sixteenth pole for one-mile races.

Thoroughbred Daily News reported that it was Bejarano's second violation at Oaklawn this meet after mistiming his ride in the Jan. 25 Fifth Season Stakes, where he finished fourth. Bejarano drove Henro after the official finish like there was still a half-furlong to go, according to the report. He was fined $200 for that violation as well.

Bejarano has a record of  181: 39-28-24 at the current Oaklawn meet and ranks second in the win column.
