Be Bullish Goes for New Connections

Mike Repole’s Be Bullish (8-5) totes high weight of 124 pounds, including jockey Javier Castellano, as he faces six other New York-breds in Wednesday’s $75,000 John Morrissey Stakes. Now trained by George Weaver, the 6-year-old gelded son of Pure Prize will be making his 51st lifetime start in the 6 ½-furlong race, which he enters off a two-length victory in an open optional claimer at Belmont. The John Morrissey, for which he drew post position 6, will be the first start for his new connections, who claimed him for $75,000.

Returning to state-bred company is Anstu Stable’s Ibboyee (7-5), most recently eighth of 12 in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap. The 4-year-old Medallist colt, trained by Todd Pletcher, last faced New York-breds in the 2010 Empire Classic, when he was ninth behind Friend Or Foe. John Velazquez rides from the outside post 7.

The John Morrissey also drew, from the rail out, Mineswept, Mr. Windjammer, Six Flings, Overextended, and Naughty New Yorker.
